As original and peculiar as you would expect of a Gondry/Kaufman collaboration. This light-hearted criticism of the unhappiness and duplicities that pose as civilisation doesn’t quite finds its voice. Worth watching for a scene in which Rhys Ifans (an ape-man undergoing My Fair Lady treatment by scientist Tim Robbins) prettily compliments a waitress on the fish before bending the surprised female over the table and excitably pumping and grunting.
